Hello! + Balloon Celebration = Love!

Did everyone have a great weekend?  Mine was great!  The weather was warm and I enjoyed a little time outside - outside chipping ice off our driveway!  It was so muddy and messy, and knowing that we'll be getting a wallop of a storm this week, I wanted to get as much of the nasty ice off our driveway as I could.  Not a fun job, but my son Alex (who is 8) and I for some reason found it to be a good challenge!

But I also found some time to create a few things - and this card was one of them.  I used the sketch from CAS(e) this Sketch this week.

I was thrilled with the way this one turned out.  I wasn't sure how it was going to go - the "sun" and cloud kind of had me perplexed.

What I did tho - was I sponged on some Daffodil Delight onto the W.W. panel.  Then let it dry REALLY good - like overnight!  (which wasn't really necessary, but I got pulled out of the craft room by the kids).  I used some Whisper White ink to stamp the cloud and then sprinkled it right away with White embossing powder. Worked perfectly!  Add some balloons, the sentiment and some sequins (from my stash of "stuff").

This card just has all the right colors and mix of sparkle and shine! (in my humble opinion!)  I'd love to hear YOUR opinion - leave a comment...

In the Meadow - a sketch challenge

I really don't like when I have stamp sets that haven't seen ink yet.  Unfortunately, I've got a few sets like that on my shelf.  In the Meadow was one of them.

Lucky for this set, tho - it found some ink today....and there are other sets that have been in line longer than this one!

Many times when I'm not quite sure what I WANT to create, I turn to a good sketch challenge.  One of my favorite challenges comes from The Paper Players.  So, I grabbed their sketch and then challenged myself to stamp something that I wouldn't think of instantly.  (I first thought of the new Bloomin' Heart die and then the Number of Years dies to use as the circle piece.  But it felt too obvious)

Here's what I came up with:

I can't tell you enough how much I like the way this one turned out.  I used DSP from the Going Places Paper Stack.

This turned out perfect for a masculine birthday card.  However, I think this Momma Doe protecting her fawn could make the card go either way.

Hope this card inspires you today!

Video: Valentine Matchbook Treat Holder

Hey there my crafty friends!  I've got a real treat for you today....a treat holder that is!  This one is SO easy and so quick - you could whip up enough of these for all of your "loves" in a.....heartbeat!  :)

I've created a little video so that you can see how exactly how they are made.  I'm also including the measurements for you. (posted below!)

Here are the measurements for the wide one pictured above:

  1. Card stock measures 4" x 5-7/8"
  2. Score at 1/2", 3-1/4" and 3-1/2"
  3. Fold up the 1/2" section and staple
  4. Burnish the other score lines.
  5. Decorate the front as desired (I used a piece of DSP that measured 2" x 4" and one that was 3/8" x 4".  Also a piece of Black that measures 1/2" x 4")
  6. Fill with treat and enjoy!

Measurements for the tall version:

  1. Cut card stock to measure 2-3/4" x 8-3/8"
  2. Score at 1/2", 4-1/2" and 4-3/4"
  3. Follow the other directions from above!  Easy Peasy!
