Coming Up Roses...Stippled Blossoms

The sun is shining brightly today, and I know that spring is right around the corner, so I feel the need to "plant some flowers".  Since there is still snow on the ground, I'll grow them in my stamp room instead - courtesy of the Stippled Blossoms stamp set.

I used a couple of colors to create the flowers that you see here, using a bit of stamping off to get a lot of variation for my flowers.  I used Regal Rose and Primrose Petals primarily, for the bottom image, both stamped off once.  The top, stippled portion, of the image is Primrose petals - I didn't stamp it off at all.

The leaves are done with a combination of Certainly Celery and Old Olive.

I fussy cut them all - which was a bit of work, but I don't mind cutting!  Then placed them "in" the jar from Perfectly Preserved.

I added a doily, some Rose Red Seam Binding and some lace from Artisan Embellishments.

Beauty.

Quick & Easy Cards - Mixed Bunch

Howdy Folks!  We're expecting one heck of a snowstorm today....although I think I'm going to end up being disappointed!  I was counting on about 12 inches of snow...but I don't think that's going to happen.

Either way, I'm going to hunker down and get some crafty work done today and tomorrow!  I've got a couple of private classes coming up to prepare for and I want to really spoil the hostesses - so I'm dreaming up some real WOW hostess gifts!  Wouldn't you like to be spoiled too?  Guess what - now, no matter where you live, you can have a Private Class with me!  You'll want to contact me to find out how - and YOU will end up with some fabulous gifts from me plus a bunch of great free products too.  On top of that, we can still do this during Sale-A-Bration, and you'll end up with even more wonderful stampin' goodies!

Anyway....let's talk about today's card, shall we?

This one came together so quickly for me.  And I tried something a bit new, by using Melon Mambo Embossing Powder on Rose Red Cardstock.  I really am pleased with the look of this.

Watch today's video to see how easy this is to create:

I hope you've enjoyed this today!

If you'd like more great ideas emailed directly to you, be sure to sign up for my mailing list.  And do your weekly good deed, and send a friend my way!

Rain or Shine....

When you are under the weather, isn't a bright cheery card just what you need?  That is what I had in mind when I created this number.  The inside says....rain or shine.

This is a card that we created at my Stamp Clubs this month. To create the pink splatters, I simply "smooshed" (another word for squeezed!) a closed ink pad together to create a pool of ink on the lid.  Then used a really wet aqua painter and dabbed it on.  I'd like to use the word "smooshed" for that technique too...but since I've already used it, I suppose that's a bit too much!  Anyway....as I dabbed on the color, I had a kleenex or napkin handy to blot the excess off right away.  The more I dabbed, the lighter the color got, so I'd go and grab some more ink off the lid.  This is how the variation in the color came to be, which I am thrilled with!

Please note, the umbrella is embossed with Black Embossing powder.  I tried White and Clear, but the ink seemed to bleed through regardless.  Black worked best.

For the background, I used the Honeycomb Embossing folder and splattered on some homemade spritz - I used White Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol.  I thought it continued the rain appeal on the card.

What are your thoughts?  Would you like this card in the mail if you were under the weather?  What other occasion would this be appropriate for?

Sent with Love

It's fun to give gifts when the packaging is just as sweet as the gift itself, right!  The Limited Edition "Sent with Love" stamp set is a great help in doing just that.  This is a gift box that we created at my Stamp Clubs this month.  I wanted to focus on the fact that the Sent with Love Set and coordinating Designer Paper aren't just for Valentine's, and I think that this box clearly shows that.

I started out with the strip of white arrow DSP (Designer Series Paper), but realized that it needed something behind it to make it POP.  It was too blah by itself.  So, I backed it with some Island Indigo, punching each side with the Pinking Hearts border punch (retired).  I rounded the ends with a 2 1/2" circle punch, then punched small holes to thread some Sycamore Street Pool Party Ribbon (from Sale-A-Bration).  I pulled that thru a Silver Designer Button.

For the tag, I stamped the images with Pool Party and Real Red.  The ticket was stamped in Island Indigo on Pool Party, and punched with the ticket punch.  I stamped the "sealed with a kiss" image using the same ink on Whisper White, and punched with a 1 1/4" circle punch, then adhered with a Stampin' Dimensional.

I hope you like this gift box!  And I hope that you see the potential in the Sent with Love set - other than Valentine's!

TGIS!!!!! ...a Dress Form day!

That's right - TGIS....Thank Goodness it's SUNDAY!  Why?  Because it's the first day in 2 weeks that I haven't had a ton to do, places to be, and things to prep for!  Although, as I write this, I'm ready to head out the door for church, and there is a Fireman's Supper tonight to attend.  (Which means I don't have to cook!)

I've missed being here on the blog-o and inspiring you.  So let me share with you one of the most favorite cards that I did sit down and create earlier this week. (I have not stepped foot in my craft room since Tuesday! YIKES!)

I am so pleased at the way this card came together.  I had it pictured in my head, the way that I wanted the dress to be.  And a lot of times when I picture something, I just can't get it down on paper.  This time, it worked just the way I'd imagined, and I love it when that happens.

If I were to name this card, it would be A Wedding at Tiffany's!  Before I glued the flowers to the dress, I embossed the top portion with Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder.  It was overly simple without the embossing, so I went with it, and repeated that theme on the bottom portion of the card.  First, tho, I cut the bottom of the card with the Adorning Accents die, then embossed it with the coordinating folder.  I thought it helped soften that edge up a bit.

I left a sentiment off the front of the card.  In fact it's still blank inside too.  I think it would make a super sweet card for a bridal shower.  What do you think?  Would you put a sentiment on the outside, or is it good as is?  How about the blue area?  Do I need something stamped on it - like a background pattern as I did in this post?  I'd love to know what you'd do!  Leave me a comment with feedback!

Alex's Valentines - Dinoroar

I am currently at a scrapbooking retreat. And. Since I don't really scrapbook much I decided to get my kids' Valentines done. Before the night before they are needed. It will feel odd not having to scurry at the last minute to get them done. But I'll be so glad they are done! These are the ones for Alex's class. Currently I'm working on Will's class. I'll post it later!

Farmers

I don't have anything crafty to share with you today....YET anyway!  But just have to share this Super Bowl commercial that really hits home to me:

As a farm family, everything said is so true.  Farmers work their tails off trying to get it all done.  I watched my Grandpa Kintigh work from sun up to sun down.  And back in those days, I would spend two weeks of my summer vacation helping on the farm.  We, my Grandpa, my Grandma and I, would get up at 6 am to go out in the dewy bean fields to "walk beans".  That's how we got rid of the weeds.  Pulled them by hand, used a hoe to chop them down.  We'd be done by 9 am when it would start to get sweltering hot, and go on with our day.  Then, we'd go back to the field at 7pm to walk beans some more.  It's rare to see someone out "walking beans" these days.
I've watched my dad tend to calves born in the middle of the night in freezing rain, blowing snow, bringing them into the basement to get them dried off and warm.  I've witnessed my Grandpa, Dad and Husband all bottle feed calves when their mamma's couldn't feed them, or wouldn't claim them.  I've seen them saddened when a baby calf doesn't make it, or the mamma cow doesn't make it through a birth.  I've seen the vet come out a do a c-section on a mamma, only to end in disappointment.
I've seen them come in from planting a field, clothes soiled from dirt and grease.  I've heard them cuss when they've broken down at a crucial moment of harvest.  I've waited up for my husband who's worked in the field late into the night trying to get the crop planted before the rain comes.

Farming is a rewarding job.  You watch the cattle graze and grow.  You watch the beans and corn sprout from the ground and grow into an beautiful field of green.
Farming is a demanding job.  Lots of hours.  Lots of sweat.  Lots of dedication.

I'm thankful for this life on the farm.  I'm glad I've witnessed what hard work brings.  I'm glad I married a farmer!
